Description
In The Last Sanctuary, the artist captures the visceral chill of an imminent threat. The composition is a battlefield of color and texture. At the center, a spirit-figure—wide-eyed and vigilant—is encased in a cooling turquoise orb of light. This figure represents the “Core Self,” crowned in gold to signify its divine and unchangeable value, even in the face of destruction. The primary antagonist of the piece is the claws of danger. These three crimson talons are not mere shapes; they are aggressive, physical intrusions. Built up with thick impasto, they tear into the frame from the darkness, representing the sharpest fears, traumas, or external forces that seek to puncture our peace. The tension of the work lies in the proximity of the claws to the glowing barrier. It asks the viewer: How much pressure can our internal sanctuary withstand before the void breaks through? “Danger does not just surround us; it reaches for us. Our only choice is to stay centered in the light that refuses to dim.”
