Description
In Family, the artist explores the invisible threads that bind us together, even when separated by vast distances or different states of being. The composition is dominated by a stark, white central void, framed by heavy black shadows that suggest a gateway or a deep canyon. In the center, a monumental golden tree rises, its thin branches reaching upward into a soft, hazy glow. The emotional core of the work lies in the two figures: one perched high upon a dark, curved “moon” or planetoid in the upper left, and the other standing tiny and steadfast at the very base of the golden tree. Though they are positioned at opposite ends of the canvas, they are united by the presence of the tree. It is a meditation on the roots we share and the way family members often watch over one another from afar—one grounded in the earth, the other watching from the stars. “No matter how far we climb or how deep we stay, we are held by the same light.”
